What to Do in Granada in July and August, that’s the question many of you are probably asking yourselves as you start planning your trip.
Andalusia is undoubtedly one of the most visited destinations in Spain, and Granada is one of its best-kept secrets.
Summer is a fantastic opportunity to discover this province and all the hidden gems it so proudly preserves.
The heat might be one of the reasons that make you hesitate, but remember: Granada includes 86,208 hectares within the Sierra Nevada National Park.
There’s also the surrounding Natural Park, which adds another 86,000 hectares. That means we’re talking about approximately 171,829 hectares of protected natural space, with a large number of peaks rising over 3,000 meters.
This magnificent expanse of nature offers the chance to hike high-mountain trails and enjoy the incredible biodiversity of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
Highlights include la Vereda de la Estrella, a historic route along the Genil River; the Laguna de las Yeguas trail, eaturing glacial landscapes; and the ascent to Veleta, a real challenge for experienced hikers. And don’t forget to cool off with a refreshing dip in the Río Dílar or Maitena after your trek!
Granada’s cultural scene in the summer season is internationally renowned.
At the top of the list is the International Festival of Music and Dance, taking place this year from June 19 to July 13. Its unique location, within the Alhambra grounds, makes it a world-class event in both music and dance.
Without a doubt, Granada’s summer nights are magical and the perfect time to enjoy live Jazz in the Plaza, buen Jazz en la Plaza or flamenco with Irving’s Journey, a unique cultural experience that includes exclusive evening access to the Sacromonte Caves Museum and a performance based on the book Tales of the Alhambra. This takes place every Monday and Wednesday in July. Also not to be missed: the 9th Granada International Guitar Festival, from July 14 to August 7, and the Swing Monachil Festival 2025, from July 18 to 20.
One of the most awaited experiences in Sierra Nevada is night sky observation. On July 18, 19, 26, and 28, and on August 15 and 16, you can take part in a stargazing tour guided by professional astronomers and equipped with the latest portable telescope technology. You'll get to witness with your own eyes one of the darkest skies in Europe.
Culture, nature, gastronomy, and leisure — Granada is a sure bet this summer in Andalusia. A place where art and beauty, charming streets, and ancient history will make you fall in love with this magical city and its province.
We look forward to welcoming you at La Almunia del Valle
