DELIGHTS OF LA ALMUNIA

DELIGHTS OF LA ALMUNIA

In La Almunia del Valle we love a good dish, well prepared and especially with products that are local, from Andalusia and of course from our garden.

We are proud to say that in our kitchen we use our own extra virgin olive oil from hundreds of years old olive trees. They are scattered around our land and, with love, we take care of them.

We have two little cherry trees that in late spring decorate our garden. There are plums, medlars, apricots, tangerines, blackberries, strawberries, figs, pomegranates and quinces. Delights that our guests enjoy during breakfast, with the spectacular view of the mountains and the valley in the background, which are served in La Almunia.

We cannot forget the almond and walnut trees or the persimmon and azufaifo that we have close to the reception. The azufaifos makes us wait until the end of summer. It is the olive that tastes like an apple, it is also known as 'the fruit of immortality'. It is full of nutrients. A rich and healthy to recover from the summer season.

With these colourful summer fruits in Sierra Nevada, we also make delicious jams, cakes, compotes and sweets. They come straight from the tree to our kitchen or table. They are treated without pesticides or chemicals, a real luxury.

Our dinners are another opportunity to taste local, sustainable products because they come from our area and they are unique. With them, we help our guests to enjoy responsible tourism with our surroundings.

An example is the “pajuna veal” native to our mountains. Our meat supplier “Cárnicas Lujan” provide us with the Genealogical Chart of the animal that is raised in semi-freedom by themselves with 100% natural food. They also provide us with traditional sausage and cured meats from Granada.

From our favourite greengrocer "La Andaluza" we bring avocados and mangoes from the Costa Tropical. We also love the peaches from Guadix, asparagus from Huetor-Tajar, beans and artichokes from Huetor Vega and green beans from Monachil, among other wonders of our region.

The Serrano and Iberian ham are from “Valdivia” with great tradition in the area since 1969.

It is easy to see that we are proud to offer our guests and friends high-quality products from our villages and from our garden.
