What to do in Granada?

What to do in Granada? It is one of the most frequent questions our guests ask us.

Piscina

Granada is a destination that suits an infinite number of traveler profiles; those who look for activities in the mountains, on the coast, those who prefer cultural, snow, gastronomic tourism, bird watching, high-risk activities, shopping, concerts, museums... endless ways to enjoy our magnificent province.

In this blog we would like to propose you what to do in Granada. We will be your hosts! We will slowly enjoy the essence of ancient corners, getting mixed with the "granaínos" in their taverns and restaurants or traveling to look for unique places. More than 20 years exploring corners and flavors have helped us create our "essential list", places where we always return and never disappoint.

As we have just started the summer, our proposal will be very refreshing and we advise you to pay attention to the proposed schedules so you do not excessively suffer from the rigors of the heat.

We can start talking about your arrival date, from 2:00 p.m. Our recommendation and we think that the best option is to relax by the pool area with a saltwater dip surrounded by the mountain views.

The option of having dinner on the hotel’s terrace is always at your choice, under prior reservation. "Homemade" dinner with fresh products daily selected and entirely prepared in our establishment. The sunset views on our terrace and the exclusivity of the service will allow you to enjoy a serene and elegant atmosphere.

Delights of La Almunia

But for those of you who decide to go out and explore Monachil we have some good recommendations. After a nice walk through the town we recommend, first of all, La Cantina de Diego, a small family restaurant where you can enjoy a quiet evening with a good gastronomic offer. Diego cooks mostly with products from his garden that he maintains in a sustainable way. The second option, for those looking for a more popular and casual atmosphere, is El Puntarrón, with tapas, portions and good live music on weekends. In both places you have to reserve a table in advance!

After a delicious breakfast with views, we go to Los Cahorros. A beautiful gorge in the municipality of Monachil. It is not necessary to take the car. We will start the route from the door of the hotel. We recommend going back before the heat is too intense, especially in the last section, going up to La Almunia Hotel.

Late afternoon is the best time to enjoy the city of Granada, get lost in the Albaicín, a neighborhood on a slope, also known as the Halconeros suburb. Only site in Granada that is World Heritage Site. We love accessing it from Sacromonte through the path of Enmedio. You won't be disappointed. The contrasts between these two hills that contemplate the Alhambra are evident and unique. Enjoy it unhurriedly, slowly, smelling the jasmine and honeysuckle from the Cármenes that populate the hill.

Walk towards the Mirador de San Nicolas, Plaza Larga, Calle del Agua, Calle del Beso, Mirador de San Cristóbal, ... and drop by in La Plaza de San Miguel Bajo, Paseo de los Tristes and Carrera del Darro, enjoy a well-deserved beer and tapas in any of its peculiar terraces.

Sierra Nevada opens its facilities in summer to enjoy walks in medium and high mountains. A fabulous option when the heat is on! Tours guided by professionals to Veleta, El Trevenque, Barranco de San Juan, El Mulhacén, La Alcazaba... unforgettable experiences.

If hiking in the mountains is not our thing, there is still the option of visiting the charming towns and ancient history that the province of Granada treasures. Capileira in La Alpujarra is one of our favorites. Singular with its flat launa roofs, chimneys, wooden balconies, cobbled streets and ditches where water runs and is life.

Going from the alpine climate in high mountains to the tropical one on the Granada Coast will only take us 1 hour!

The contrast between both landscapes is present on the trip. From creeping junipers, Scots pine, snow star or Sierra Nevada violet to farms planted with avocado, mango, custard apple and tropical fruits. The smell of earth and mountains to the saltpeter of the coast. The mountain wind to the sea breeze, both bathed in Mediterranean light and immense blue skies.

Entre la nieve y La Costa Tropical

Enjoy Granada this summer, a land full of charm and authentic flavor, kindness and desire to receive travelers.

Enjoy exercising responsible tourism with the environment. For sustainable tourism. For a healthy tourism.

We wait for you!
